Phoebe Bridgers Announces Third Album ‘LOST WEEKEND’ with New Single “Lost Boys”
ARTICLE BY SYDNEY CARPER
Yesterday, Phoebe Bridgers announced her highly anticipated third studio album titled Lost Weekend, due August 14th via Dead Oceans and can be preordered here.
This announcement follows her weeks long run of pop up shows across the U.S., where she debuted some of the new material from the upcoming album. These intimate, phone free shows drew to a close earlier this month with her sold out Madison Square Garden show that recently made headlines for its $1 tickets.
Bridgers will be touring her new record this fall on The Lost Tour, taking over arenas across North America and the UK/Europe, starting September 14th in Indianapolis, Indiana, and ending in December 12th in Stockholm, Sweden. Alex G will be supporting the North American dates while Isaac Wood and Anaïs will offer support for the UK/European shows.
Lost Weekend is made up of 16 tracks, and while the full tracklist has yet to be revealed, Bridgers has given a taste of what’s to come with lead single “Lost Boys.” This marks her first original material released in four years. The track includes production from Jack Antonoff, Tony Berg, Ethan Gruska, Alex G, and Bridgers herself. Bridgers’ band mates in boygenIus, Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker, also provided vocals on the song.
“Lost Boys” is unmistakably Bridgers at her best, a delightful mix of synths and vocoders paired with her trademark airy vocals takes us on a journey lamenting “Lost Boys [that] never grow up, never grow old.” The single comes with a fantastical music video directed by Lance Oppenheim and Pablo Rochat showcasing Bridgers LARPing (Live Action Role Playing) at a renaissance fair. The lines between fantasy and reality are blurred here as Bridgers and faire goers leave on motorbike and enlist a gas station clerk to join them. Watch the video below and stream “Lost Boys” on all platforms.
