BY SASHA BASANT
Atlanta-based artist Reiyo The Giant announces the release of her debut album “Trick Of The Night” arriving November 6th. Born and raised in the Bronx, New York, The artist first emerged with her self-produced 2021 debuted EP Romeo. Now, she steps into a new era with her debut album, exploring the effects of grief, fear and rumination.
Her latest single, the album title track, “Trick Of The Night,” offers a fitting introduction to this new chapter of her career. “Trick Of The Night” feels true to its name. Throughout the track there's a sense of moving through a darkened room with only a flickering flame leading the way. The production of the song itself leaves plenty of space for uncertainty to settle, adding an eerie atmosphere to the track. But at the center of it all is Reiyo's voice, soft, warm, and intimate, acting almost as a guide through the uncertainty.
“I couldn’t decide what was intuition and what was fear,” Reiyo shares. “The lines became so blurred that eventually I was believing everything.”
The track follows a series of previously released singles including “Can’t Call Me,” “Get It Together,” and “The Show Must Go On.” Giving listeners a firmer sense of what to expect from her debut. Reiyo describes the album as moving through a familiar house where something always feels slightly off, with each song taking place in a different room. With “Trick Of The Night” on the near horizon, arriving November 6th, listeners will soon get to piece together how each of these singles fits into a full part of Reyo’s first full-length album.
