We're daydreaming about “Beaches In Tennessee,” and Cage The Elephant starting their next chapter with Big Loud Rock.
After two years, the Grammy Award-winning band is back with new music. Released on July 10, "Beaches In Tennessee" signals the start of a new era for Cage The Elephant, arriving alongside the announcement of the band's signing to Big Loud Rock and offering fans their first taste of what's to come. The excitement surrounding the announcement extends well beyond the band's devoted fanbase. Co-Founder and President of Big Loud Rock, Joey Moi, says the band is “nowhere near finished.” Moi praised the band's commitment to pushing their creativity and involvement with their audience, adding, “Welcoming a band of this caliber to Big Loud Rock, …We couldn't be more excited for what's ahead.”
Fresh off their run as special guests on Oasis' Live '25 tour, Cage The Elephant returned to the studio with a renewed sense of purpose. Frontman Matt Shultz said the experience "reignited their fire to dream," inspiring the band to dive directly into writing and recording instead of taking a break.
Produced by Justin Raisen and sadpony (Jeremiah Raisen), "Beaches In Tennessee" blends Cage The Elephant's signature alternative rock punch with a raw emotional core. With guitarist Brad Shultz's notable riff, the song features an energetic hook that contrasts with the lyrics rooted in one of the darkest periods of frontman/lyricist Matt Shultz's life. Shultz shared with Big Loud Rock, “It’s no secret that I went through a mental health crisis a few years back; this song for me symbolizes me finally being able to move past it…the song addresses it by creating a fictionalized account of it. It was my attempt at reclaiming the ability to write about something serious that happened in my life, from a place of genuine experience.”
Paired with the band's signing to Big Loud Rock, "Beaches In Tennessee" proves further that Cage The Elephant are returning with a renewed creative spark, ready to mark the beginning of a new phase in their career.
