PRIVATE SCHOOL IS MAKING NOISE LIKE THE RENTS DUE

BY SASHA BASANT

For Private School, the rules seemed more of a suggestion. The Los Angeles trio has built its identity somewhere between hardcore, rap, and alternative rock. With their latest announcement, Private School continues to carve out their own space while pushing the boundaries of what their music can sound like, creating music that feels less concerned with genre than with impact. Ask where they fit and the answer seems to be – wherever they want. Now, the band is gearing up for the release of their new EP ‘LIKE THE RENTS DUE’ out September 4, 2026.

Following the release of ‘GET BUCK’ and ‘RELOADED,’ the upcoming EP marks another step forward for the band. Rather than sticking to one specific genre, Private School continues to pull inspiration from all corners of the music world, crafting a sound that feels aggressive, unpredictable and uniquely their own. Fronted by Khaki, with AGodd on guitar and Breno O’Malley on drums, Private School have been making a name for themselves with their distinctive sound and live performances. On stage is where Private School really comes alive, known for their underground house shows and an interactive, high energy atmosphere that brings the band and crowd together.

Their latest singles offer a glimpse into the range of sounds Private School are bringing to the alternative scene and indicate where the band is heading with ‘LIKE THE RENTS DUE.’ Each release leaves room for experimentation while giving listeners a better idea of what to expect from the upcoming EP.

Whatever shape the record ultimately takes, one thing is for certain, Private School aren't walking into their next era looking for permission. With their ever-evolving sound and willingness to push boundaries, the band is quickly becoming one to watch in the alternative scene.
