Honey Revenge Found the Cure for Sunday Scaries
by sydney carper
Last Friday, Los Angeles duo Honey Revenge released the latest single from their upcoming album Loving and Losing and it’s the carefree summer banger we’ve been waiting for.
“Sunday Scaries” encapsulates the feeling of loosening up and not worrying about what tomorrow brings that many of us search for. On top of a funky and infectious beat, it’s easy to get lost in the world they paint in the track’s music video: one of pure ecstasy and unadulterated joy. It’s a double edged sword though, because tomorrow is inevitable and eventually we all need to face the consequences of our actions.
Lead vocalist Devin Papadol explains the inspiration behind the song, saying:
“You know when you go out partying, and wake up the next morning anxious because you can’t fully remember the night before? You have racing thoughts about the texts you wouldn’t have sent if you were sober, you’re sick from the extra drink you shouldn’t have had, and the sleep you didn’t get. In my house we call that hang-xiety, aka the Sunday Scaries. Escapism is all fun and games until it evolves into self sabotage. This song is all about that sensation I feel when I open my eyes after a bender and how I fall in and out of love with going out and being carefree. The older I get the less worth it seems but the more I need a little release.”
Loving and Losing is out September 18th via Thriller records. Honey Revenge has also just announced they are going on the road across the U.S. this fall, co-headlining with Dead Poet Society to celebrate their new album. Hunny & Broadside will offer support. Artist presale & VIP tickets are on sale now with General on sale beginning Friday, 7/31 at 10AM local time. Full dates below.
