The Plot In You bring intense energy to New Jersey's Starland Ballroom 9/7/25
review by amber bintliff
The Plot In You recently brought their North American headlining tour to Starland Ballroom in New Jersey on September 7th with support from Windwaker, Invent Animate and Northlane. The Ohio metalcore titans, consisting of Landon Tewers (vocals), Ethan Yoder (bass), Josh Childress (guitars), and Michael Cooper (drums), delivered an electrifying performance full of mayhem and lasting memories.
LANDON TEWERS (THE PLOT IN YOU)
Windwaker were the first to take the stage, commanding the crowd with their captivating and energetic presence. I think I saw more walls of death during their 25 minute set than I have in my entire life. The Australian metalcore band quickly became a new favorite of mine after this night, with “Apathy” making its way into my “On Repeat” playlist on Spotify after hearing it live.
Watching Invent Animate perform live feels like you’re stuck in a trance. The way the Texas progressive metalcore band completely took over the room left me in awe. From the barricade to the bar in the back of the venue, Invent Animate’s presence could be felt by every fan and prospective listener present.
Northlane was the last act to take the stage before The Plot In You and delivered an insane performance. The glowing eyes of guitarist John Deiley and ominous lighting gave off a haunting, yet alluring aura as the crowd went crazy in the mosh pit. The Australian progressive metalcore group gave Starland Ballroom a set to remember as they eagerly anticipated the headliner.
With the lights dimmed and fog machines on full blast, The Plot In You finally stepped on stage. This was my second time seeing the band and I can confidently say I am left even more speechless each time. Tewers is one of the most dynamic vocalists in the genre and hearing his screams echo through the venue is bone-chillingly indescribable. Despite it being a Sunday evening, non-stop crowdsurfers, rowdy mosh pits and cries of every lyric filled Starland Ballroom for the entire duration of The Plot In You’s set.
The setlist consisted of some of the band’s biggest hits, including “THE ONE YOU LOVED” and “Left Behind” and even their brand new track “Silence,” which just released on September 12th. “Forgotten” is arguably in my top ten favorite songs I’ve ever heard live. There aren’t enough words in my vocabulary to capture what this one sounds like with a packed room of people screaming out every line. I almost wish the night never ended, but witnessing their closing performance of “FEEL NOTHING” was absolutely insane and made the bittersweet finale of the show worth it.
The Plot In You are easily one of the most powerful groups in modern metalcore. With their intense live energy, seeing them in a venue near you is a must whenever they make their way closeby. After wrapping up this run of headline shows, the band will join Motionless In White and Amira Elfkey as support for Bring Me The Horizon’s USA Ascension Program Tour.
