SPACEY JANE - SEPTEMBER 7TH AT THE PARADISE ROCK CLUB IN BOSTON, MA

by kaley hall

Spacey Jane, an Australian indie rock band taking their leap into the limelight, attracted quite the crowd to The Paradise Rock Club on September 7th in Boston, MA, with the show being sold out and the line already wrapping around the block hours before doors would even open. Fans talked amongst themselves to pass time, and a common sentence you would catch would be “I can’t believe there's this many people here, I swear I didn’t think they were this popular!”. Some might take that as rude, but the excitement and appreciation in their tone made it clear they were overjoyed to see the band receive the deserving recognition.

In May of 2025, Spacey Jane released their third album, ‘If That Makes Sense’, and just a few days before the release, announced they would be taking this album on the road to North America, UK, and Europe. After a year long hiatus from live performances, fans were over the moon to receive this news and didn't hesitate to ensure they would be in the crowd for a tour stop near them.

The Belair Lip Bombs, a fellow Australian band with an indie rock sound, took to the stage as Spacey Jane’s opener, quickly captivating the attention of every crowd member in the packed venue of the Paradise Rock Club. If anyone in the crowd had been tired or out of it waiting for the show to start, The Belair Lip Bombs knocked them out of this stupor and a lively energy took over the crowd that would continue throughout the night.

When the lights went down for Spacey Jane, the likelihood that everyone felt the same goosebumps cover their arms and yelled in excitement the same way was undeniable. The energy was electric and spread over the venue in a large wave as the band took the stage and the first guitar notes reverberated throughout the packed venue.

Caleb Harper, the lead vocalist and guitarist, took to the mic and, with his smooth and broad vocal range, filled the room with lyrics from old and new songs alike, including fan favorites such as “Booster Seat” and “Lots of Nothing” from their older discography, and then “Whateverrr”, “Through My Teeth”, and “All the Noise” from their new album. My personal favorite, “Estimated Delivery”, showcased their entrancing instrumental talent, with Ashton Hardman-Le Cornu on lead guitar alongside Caleb, Kieran Lama on drums, and bassist Peppa Lane.

Watching them perform, you can automatically tell this is a group of people who were destined to end up on a stage together. I am always a sucker for a band that goes on stage and truly loves what they do and who they’re sharing the stage with, as you can feel that energy from the crowd and it’s almost infectious.

Spacey Jane will be wrapping up their North American leg of tour in Austin, Texas at the beginning of October. If you see they have a date near you and you haven’t already made plans to go, I would highly recommend getting those tickets. Drag your friends, family, significant others, pets (JK, unfortunately pets are not permitted in venues for valid reasons, but I do think they would love Spacey Jane) along and I’m sure, if they aren’t fans already, they will leave that venue adding Spacey Jane’s and The Belair Lip Bombs music to their playlists.

I know I will certainly be waiting patiently for the next time they play a show near me and I will be in attendance again!
