“SEE YOU IN ANOTHER LIFE” LAUNDRY DAY’S CLOSING NIGHT IN ASBURY PARK
BY CHELSEA VAUGHAN
On February 28th, 2026, Laundry Day concluded their “Time of Your Life” tour in Asbury Park, New Jersey, to a sold out crowd at the House of Independents.
If you don’t know who Laundry Day are, they are a pop rock band from NYC; you may have heard their hit song “FRIENDS” back in 2020, when COVID Tiktok was the rage that kept people slightly sane during the pandemic. They have since captivated a larger crowd over the years, with hit singles such as “SUPERMODEL” and “I KINDA LIKE THAT.” The ToYL tour has taken them into numerous cities across the country over the past few months (and soon the UK/Europe), with numerous shows selling out along the way.
When I got to the venue, the crowd was already wrapped around the block, with just about an hour before showtime. They have a very dedicated fanbase; everybody was befriending each other in line, buzzing about the band members and how excited they were for the show. As soon as the venue opened, the crowd flooded in, and in the blink of an eye the venue was packed from the barricade to the back of the venue by the bathrooms.
Opening up their show was DJ Satchel Shure, a producer/DJ from New York City. I always get a little bit antsy when it comes to DJ sets as openers because they normally have to understand the crowd that they’re going into very well in order for their set to be considered “good” by their audience. I think Satchel did a great job at captivating his audience; the crowd was dancing and singing along to almost, if not, every song on his setlist, with songs such as “Heartbeat” by Childish Gambino and “Your Love is My Drug” by Kesha. He even threw in a Laundry Day song or two at the end of his set to hype up the crowd even more, and it worked.
Once 7pm hit (this was an early show due to the venue having another event later that day), it was time for Laundry Day to take the stage with “R U READY?” (ironically the same song that their opener used to hype the crowd up). From the moment they entered the stage, the crowd was ecstatic. There wasn’t a song that didn’t have everybody singing and dancing along. While every member had their moment to shine and had an amazing performance on the stage, I want to give a lot of recognition towards their drummer, Sawyer Nunes - not only did he play numerous instruments throughout the night (including drums, keyboard, and guitar) - he also provided backup and main vocals on numerous songs. That can be difficult to do in one set!
Throughout the night, they performed numerous hits, primarily focusing on their 2025 album “Earworm”, but also included older songs like “Jane” and “Shut Up I Love You”. Coming from someone who doesn’t know their music super well, it was overall a really good performance and convinced me to give them a listen outside of their concert. I also want to give props towards their very tight-knit fanbase; even if the crowd was full of strangers, it felt like everybody had befriended one another by the end of the night. During their last song “FRIENDS”, the crowd had their arms wrapped around each other, singing (and in some cases crying) along to every word, holding the people next to them tight and making a memory that can last forever. The band also admitted that this was their first time performing in New Jersey. They picked a perfect song to not only end the night, but to end the USA stretch of their tour.
These guys have a lot of talent and are very kind towards their fanbase - there are numerous videos of them meeting fans after the show, making videos/taking pictures, and talking to their fans; not as fans, but as if they were friends that have known each other for ages. It can be hard to see that kind of connection when it comes to bands that have blown up on social media, but Laundry Day does it well. I would not be surprised if Laundry Day was a band that blew up even further by the time their next project comes out, and I hope to see them come back to New Jersey soon!
