LEVITATE MUSIC FESTIVAL 2026: WHAT TO EXPECT

BY ELLA EDWARDS

Levitate Music and Arts Festival turns Marshfield, Massachusetts into an all-out party for an incredible, usually scorching, weekend each summer. Locals and traveling die-hards alike gear up each July to hear a blend of rock, folk, reggae, and whatever else is on the menu, knowing that the minds behind the festival will not disappoint. Levitate released the much-anticipated lineup last week, and I’ve got to say: I’m pumped.

I’ve been to more than a few Levitate Festivals since their establishment in 2013. These memories of Massachusetts’s most exciting, most genre-bending festival feature repeatedly ripping performances from local favorites like rocking, reggae group, The Elovaters. I was thrilled, and certainly not surprised, to see them listed again for 2026. I guarantee that Levitate-goers will look forward to another stellar performance from this group that never disappoints.

Over the years, Levitate has peppered in the occasional big name, like the beloved acoustic surf-rocker Jack Johnson in 2022 and folk giant Brandi Carlile in 2023. It has been spectacular to see the festival grow like this. In 2019, I danced like a maniac to headliner Ziggy Marley’s set. I’ll be seeing him again this year, but he won’t be ending the day. Rather, folky rising stars, Caamp will be closing out Saturday, while alt-rock’s golden girl Alanis Morissette will headline Sunday.

Caamp seems like an obviously perfect selection for this festival, which has often highlighted mellow, acoustic talents. Meanwhile, Morissette feels like an exciting divergence from Levitate’s norm; though the festival has featured plenty of rockers in the past, bringing in the “You Oughta Know” singer introduces an untapped level of angst for Levitate. While this is certainly a change From the laid-back, beach vibe that I’ve come to expect at the Levitate Festival, I am never one to complain about an opportunity for some well-earned head-banging. Rock on, Levitate! I’m looking forward to this unexpected Jagged Little Festival.
